Choosing personal gps systems

Choosing personal gps systems for your all your needs

Choosing personal gps systems
You should take care in choosing personal gps systems for all your needs and wants, just as you would any other purchase.  Where do you start?

Most people will tell you to start at the basic factor, the price.  In fact, most people would be right in thinking this is a basic factor to consider.   If you don’t consider the price, you may be considering a purchase you can’t afford.  Sure you could say I could put that purchase on my credit card and I will be all right.  Maybe you can. Maybe you shouldn’t.  That question is up to you.   But do at least be aware of the price of every gps system you consider purchasing.

Next consider how you want to use a gps system.   Do you want a gps system that will work outside, in any climate, in any light and one that has a lot of battery life?

If these things are important, they need to be on your list of needs and wants.   Plus, you may want to add the fact that a portable unit may also be the perfect type of gps system for you.

Maybe you answered that you want a gps system that will work in my car.  One that will easily show me the way to my next destination.  Maybe you also said that you wanted one that could speak not only turn by turn directions to you, but could give them in speak to text language, as well.  If this is the case you may prefer a dash mountable system instead of a portable one.

Yet, you may have answered that you want a gps system that you can take out on your boat.  You might have added that you would love one that also had a built in fish finder, a tide indicator as well as the estimate time of sun rise and sun set.  If these needs are important to you, then you may want a marine gps system.

Once you decide on your basic needs and the basic concept of the type of gps system you need, then you can go on and decide other things such as:

Ease of use:

How important is this to you?  Do you need a system that basically anyone can use?

The display function and size of the gps system

Do you care about the size?  Do you want one that is extra light weight?  Do you want one that will fit easily in your pocket or purse.

What about the display features?  Do you have to have a display unit that is colorized?
Do you need certain sized buttons or ones that are placed in certain places?  Do you like touch screens?

Are there certain features you just have to have?

For instance, if you are purchasing a navigational system does it have to have a certain number of maps all ready downloaded or maps of a certain region?   What about preloaded points of interests?  Do you have to have one that will allow you to add customized ones, too?  Do you also need or want to be able to save the history for so many days or be able to save a certain number of addresses?

If you are purchasing a gps system that you will be using to help course your way for jogging, hiking, biking, etc reasons, do you insist on having a track back feature, a feature that will save a certain number of previous courses used for recording purposes, a feature that will allow you to track not only your speed but your distances?

What about extra features?

Are there any that you must have such as:

Audio players
Audio readers
JPEG picture readers
Compasses
Audible alarms

Finally, you need to choose on how you would like to purchase your gps system.   Do you want to purchase it at a local store (where sales people can bug you) or online (where you have to pay shipping costs and wait for your purchase to arrive).   Of course, this choice will also depend on where you live and the amount of time you have to spend either shopping locally or online.

If you decide to shop locally, remember your ideal gps system may be found at your local

Major department store
Sporting Goods store
Pet store
Electronics Store
Auto parts store
Flea markets
Trade shows

If you decide to shop online, be sure to check out:

All major department store sites
All major sporting good sites
The actual brand name sites of the gps systems you like the best (Example Garmin gps systems)
Online auction sites (Ebay)
Small online sites that sells gps tracking systems (you may find a better bargain than at the bigger sites, just type in gps systems for sale and see what appears)

Remember when it comes time for you to buy your next personal gps system the key word to remember is the word personal.  Personal means something for you.  This should also mean choosing only something you can really afford, something you really want and need, plus something you really like.   Don’t forget the like part in your choosing decision.

Gps Fleet Tracking Systems

Businesses can save money with gps fleet tracking systems

gps fleet tracking systems
Do you own vehicles that your employees used during the course of their business day?  This business could be a service business, a delivery business or a major fleet business.   Did you know that businesses are  saving money every day with gps fleet tracking systems?  Did you know you could save money with them, as well.

First consider this.

You could save money on insurance costs by purchasing and installing these gps tracking systems on your company owned and employed operated vehicles.   Insurance can be a major expense on any business.  If you can save even a little bit of money insurance wise, it is a big plus in itself.

How else can you save?

You can save by monitoring the actual courses your employees are taking to their assigned designations.   Are they always taking the shortest routes?  Are they stopping where they shouldn’t be stopping?  Are they taking detours?  Are they just taking the long way to their destinations or getting lost often?

Some of these errors are human errors that you as a manager or boss can help to correct.  Yet, some of these errors (especially those that continue or happens on a regular basis is proof that the employee or employees aren’t working as well as they should).

You can save money on gas and on maintenance costs

You can do this by making sure the shortest routes are being taken.

You can make sure deliveries are being done on time.

You can do this by checking the history feature and checking on times of arrival.  This will ensure that your employees are on time.   If your employees are on time, deliveries are on time, services are being completed on time, merchandise is being picked up on time, etc.

This leads to customers approval.  Approving customers means repeat sales and possible referrals.  This means your company can make more money.  More money can mean your company can expand.

You can make sure your employees are driving safely.

By monitoring their speeds and their destinations, you can easily tell if someone is driving to fast.  Fast driving equals reckless driving.  Reckless driving can lead to accidents.  This can be not only mean lost or harm to your vehicle and any company property in said vehicle, but it can mean other people on the roads and highways and your employees could get hurt or worse.

By making sure the speeds are being adhered to you are ensure everyone’s safety.  You are making safety a priority for your company, which will lead to the community’s approval of the driving abilities of your employees.

You can also save money by keeping the receipts for the purchase of the gps tracking systems as well as any installation costs that you may incur.  Then when it comes time for you to file your business taxes be sure to include them as part of your business costs.

The IRS will definitely consider these expenses as a much needed and usable tax expense.  It helps your business to operate smoothly and more efficiently.   As a business owner, you should love being able to save on your taxes.

Ok, you see why you may want to purchase a gps tracking system for your fleet business.  You love all the ideas on how you may save.  But you wonder will you be able to operate them.

Can you operate a computer?

You don’t have to be a computer expert.  You just need to know a little bit about computers and how to use some basic software.

The software will come with easy to follow directions that will show you how you pin point where each of your vehicles equipped with the tracking systems are at any given moment.  They can relay this information to you quickly.  The software will then inform you of any further requested information that it is equipped to answer such as speeds, history of that given vehicle, etc.

Once you find information that bothers you about an employee, you can then speak to that employee to try to resolve the matter.   You, of course, can continue monitoring the employee after your talk.  This will allow you to know if the employee has corrected the complaints you found or if disciplinary actions will have to be taken.

Some business owners find that gps fleet tracking systems also gives them peace of mind.  It gives them peace of mind, knowing just how well most of their employees are doing.  It gives them peace of mind, knowing they can try to resolve a problem an employee is presenting such as speeding or driving unneeded routes.   It gives them peace of mind, knowing that they may be able to resolve a problem before a more serious problem (an accident or a firing) may occur.

Businesses can save money with gps fleet tracking systems.  Business owners can find peace of mind by using them.  For these reasons, if you own a fleet business or a business that requires your employees to drive your company own vehicle or vehicles, shouldn’t you, too, own your very own gps fleet tracking system?

Garmin Street Pilot GPS: Navigating the Right Way

Whether you’re thinking about traveling within your city – or to entirely different city – it is very important that you feel safe during your travels. The easiest way to feel secure is to have the assurance that you won’t get lost. Of course, this is never guaranteed if you travel outside of the city. In the past, you would have to depend on a map, or a trusted friend with great navigation skills to get you where you needed to go. But now, many people are depending on another trusted friend to help them navigate through the country – the Garmin Street Pilot GPS. This navigation device is a very popular substitute to the paper map, and is a lot more reliable. So if you are looking for additional guidance on the roads of the United States, read on to learn more about a device that just may become your new best friend.

About Garmin

Before we tackle the model, we will look at the brand. Garmin is a very well known and highly respected company in the world of GPS. Most of its models are considered the best in the industry and are trusted because of their high level of precision and accuracy – and a lot of great features don’t hurt either! The company has been in business for almost 20 years providing customers with everything including street and highway mapping services, marine charting devices, aviation technology, fitness units, recreation devices, and wireless applications. In this article, however, we will focus on getting you through streets with three of the more popular Garmin Street Pilot GPS devices.

Street Pilot Models

c330 – This Garmin Street Pilot GPS device comes equipped with detailed, preprogrammed street maps, and a huge directory with points of interest (POI) like motels, restaurants, ATMs and fuel stops that make navigation simple. To get it started, you simply touch the color screen and enter in your destination then the unit takes you to the location with either the 2D or 3D map and turn-by-turn directions. If you have your own POIs that you would like to enter into the device then you can customize it to your needs. And when you get close to your POIs, the device will alert you so you won’t pass them. But probably the best feature of all is that it is portable, meaning you can move it from car to car with ease.

c550 – This Garmin Street Pilot GPS device has several features that make it bit more of a treat to those who love gadgets. It has the same preloaded maps and POIs as the c330, but the way it alerts you when you reach your turns is by actually announcing the street names so that you will never have to take your eyes off of the road. In addition, if you like to link your cell phone to other devices, you can link it with this device and take advantage of the internal microphone and speaker that lets you communicate wirelessly. Also, if you are approaching a traffic jam, this device has an integrated traffic receiver that alerts you of the jam and reroutes your travel so that you can drive in a traffic-free area.

2820 – Like the c550, this Garmin Street Pilot GPS unit also has Bluetooth technology, preloaded street maps, and traffic assistance. It works with both your car and motorcycle, which means it is extremely durable in the event that you drop it. If you use it for your motorcycle, it can connect to your Bluetooth-enabled headset or helmet so that you can hear the turn-by-turn instructions over the rumbling motor. It also comes with the preloaded POIs, as well as the ability to program your own into the system, and has 2D and 3D maps. Another feature of this device include an optional XM antenna (and subscription to XM services) so that you can check the weather, be pre-warned of traffic issues and even listen to other radio stations. But the best feature for many customers is the MP3 player that allows you to browse by artist, album or song.

There are other Garmin Street Pilot GPS systems on the market, including the c580, 7200 and 7500. So if these features don’t suit your needs, there are more to choose from. The best way to know what works for you is to visit the Gamin Street Pilot GPS devices in person before making your online purchase (there are better deals online). That way, you can be sure you’ll love what you buy and have a better experience with your device.

When you’re done learning about how one of these systems can help you out, you won’t want to trust your own directional senses again.

About Global Positioning

You may or may not have heard about global positioning systems (GPS) by name, but most likely you have known about what they do for years. For instance, if you’re familiar with the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie True Lies then you might remember the line in the movie where Tom Arnold discusses using a tracking system. At the time, you may have assumed that something this sophisticated could only be used by real-life spies or other government officials – and at one point, this was true. But now, anyone with a few hundred dollars can take advantage of the benefits of one of these devices.

Benefits

The benefits of mapping, tracking and navigation systems, specifically the Garmin portable GPS units, give you a lot to look forward to during use. Some of the traditional benefits of these devices include being able to map your exact coordinates from anywhere in the world. This helps you to determine where you are in the event that you get lost and need to help someone find you. Also, if you purchase a navigation system, you can get turn-by-turn directions that will help you find your way from the place you’re currently located to any other place in your country – and sometimes beyond.

If it is a tracking system that you want, you get more than one benefit depending on which type you purchase. For example, if you want to track where you are traveling, you can store the places you’ve visited in the system so that it will tell you how to get back to that location. But a tracking system can also be used to watch where your vehicle – or even your dog – is traveling in real time so that in the event they are stolen, you and law enforcement can immediately track them down.

Garmin Portable GPS Systems

Now that we’ve looked at the basics of these systems, as well as how they can benefit you, let’s look as some of the more popular Garmin units on the market. You never know, you might find exactly what you’re looking for right in this article!

Mapping – Garmin portable GPS units also come in a mapping handheld style that lets you easy map out street directions while walking outdoors. However, some like the eTrex go one step further to let you map routes in more remote areas, even cover hiking trails, valleys and rivers.

Tracking – Many people are surprised to find out that they can purchase a dog tracking system that will help them keep an eye on their pet even if their not in their presence. But the Astro was created just for this purpose. All you have to do is place the device collar around your beloved pet’s neck and send him on his way. If he ever gets lost, you can locate him on a map and even determine whether he is walking, running, sitting or treeing.

Garmin portable GPS systems open people up to a new world of technology everyday. So why risk being the only person left behind? Take the time to learn more about how one of these Garmin portable GPS devices might be of benefit to you today. You definitely won’t regret it.

Let Garmin Handheld GPS Guide You to Your Next Destination

Being an outdoors person has its perks – especially when you don’t have to go out there alone. Most people prefer to have a travel companion when they get outside to go hunting, fishing, boating, hiking, or camping. This is definitely a wise choice. A companion can make sure you stay safe, and be of great company to you. But if you don’t have someone to accompany you on a journey, what do you do? Many people would suggest you merely stay home until someone is available to go with you. But now, many outdoorsmen are finding that instead of having to stay home they can take a different type of companion along for the journey – a Garmin handheld GPS device.

Garmin has been on the market for quite a few years now and is getting more popular all the time – probably because they offer so many top-of-the-line devices that people just can’t get enough of them all. If you’re thinking about getting any type of unit, be it a mapping, navigation or tracking device, it is wise that you stick with this company. Why? Because you are guaranteed to be delivered accurate and precise data with every use.

What Types Are There?

Garmin places their devices into four categories: basic, mapping, two-way radio and dog tracking. Each type of device was created to suit a specific need, so in this section we will look at each type of unit and its function to help you determine which might be a good fit for you.

Basic

There are eight basic Garmin handheld GPS devices that the company offers: the eTrex H, ForeTrex 101 and 201, Geko 201 and 301, and 60, 72 and 76 series systems. Each unit has some features that are similar to the others, but each also has its own unique feature as well. Some common ground basics that they all have include high-sensitivity to the orbiting satellites which provides accuracy beyond compare, a rugged, waterproof exterior, and a track back option that lets you look at the routes you’ve traveled in reverse to determine how to get back to the beginning of your journey. Independently they offer features like the ability to store up to 500 waypoints, timers for sailing races, sunrise/sunset information, virtual games, USB connections, internal memory and a hunting/fishing calendar.

Mapping

There are over a dozen Garmin handheld GPS devices that were created for mapping. One in particular that stands out as a winner in the bunch is the Colorado 300, a unit that has a built-in basemap, barometric altimeter, electronic compass, high-sensitivity receiver, SD card slot and picture viewer. With this unit, you can not only keep up with all of the street maps in the United States, but also topographic maps, coastal charts and inland lake data. You can also store your waypoints, routes, tracks, and geocaches, and wirelessly send your favorite hiking routes to your friends. It also comes equipped with a Rock ‘n Roller input wheel for easy one-handed use. And because it is WAAS enabled, you can locate your position in the heaviest cover and deepest canyons with ease.

Two-Way Radio

The Garmin handheld GPS collection of two-way radios comes in the Rino 110, 120, 130, 520 HCx and 530 HCx. This unique variety of rugged, waterproof devices each have unique features that let you communicate with your friends and find them easily. Each device has a Position Reporting feature that allows you to send your exact location to your buddies so that they can locate your precise location on a map. Some other perks of these units include, a standard FRS/GMRS radio, a built-in weather radio, 5 watts of transmission power, a range of up to eight miles, and the ability to save up to 500 of your favorite waypoints and scramble your radio signal.

Dog Tracking

The Garmin handheld GPS unit that quickly became a favorite for many customers is the Astro dog tracking device. It was created for the hunter or everyday individual who feels it is necessary to keep tabs on their favorite pet. To use this unit, you simply place a high-sensitivity collar around your dog’s neck then turn on your system to then be able to see him everywhere he goes on a map. But it doesn’t end there. In addition to being able to locate your pet, you can also see his behavior, including whether he is walking, running, sitting or treeing.

A Garmin handheld GPS device can definitely improve your everyday activities. And because they are so accurate, you know once you make your purchase, it will be your last. So take time to look into a Garman handheld GPS system for your next outing. You definitely won’t regret the decision you made.

Free Software for Garmin GPS Units

It seems in this world, everything comes at a price. So now, to be able to find a great deal – or free item – is exceptional. However, there are still a few things left that you don’t have to dig in your pockets to enjoy. For example, you can go for a stroll in the park, breathe in some semi-fresh air, and even listen to the animals of nature. Of course, if there isn’t a park in your area then you’ll have to pay for gas to drive there. But you get my point. There are a few things left to enjoy for free. Like what, you ask? How about free software for Garmin GPS units? Sounds good? Well stick around, because in this article we will explore some of the programs that are offered free to give your device the boost that it needs.

Free Software

DNR Garmin – This software provides users with the ability to transfer data directly between their Garmin GPS units and a variety of GIS software packages.

EasyGPS – This software is great because it allows you to create, transfer and edit routes and waypoints between your computer and your device. So if you went on a tracking expedition and saved a lot of your routes on your device and now know you are reaching your storage limit, you can send those stored routes to your computer via this software and start with a clean slate on your device. Also, this software connects you to some great mapping and information sites online so that you can have access to street and topo maps, weather forecasts, aerial photos and nearby attractions. And if you want to go even further with this product, you can contact other users all over the world and share information.

Gar2rnx – This product offers users of Garmin GPS units the opportunity to receive coordinates and a lot more by using undocumented commands, providing an edge over others who use the device.

Garmap Win – This program is to be used with your device as a way to manage waypoints, routes and track logs. Some of its features include being able to download track logs, waypoints and routs from your receiver, show current positions on a map in BMP format, and create and upload your routes and waypoints.

GARNIX – This software was created for the more technologically advanced device owner who wants to be able to transfer data from their device to their MS-DOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems.

After your tour is created, you can share it on Geovative Solutions website and/or download it into more than one of the Garmin GPS units available, as well as a SmartPhone, PDA, iPod, or Google Earth.

GPilotS – Their software was created for those who spend time in the air or on water more than land. With this program, you can transfer waypoints, tracks and routes to and from your device. In addition, you can communication your map applications and so that you are able to easily exchange these waypoints, tracks and routes.

PyGarmin – This is a very cool piece of software for those who own Garmin GPS units because it is not just a product that offers maps and tracking device transfers, it actually is a set of Python classes that help you implement the protocol used by the devices. So for the price of zero, you get to learn how to make your device talk to other devices – and even other machines outside of the GPS realm. Never Get Lost with Handheld Garmin GPS Systems for Hiking

If hiking is your pleasure then you’ll love getting out on the wooded trails with a navigation device created to help you find your way through just about any part of the country. There are many companies that now create systems that can help you find your way through just about any area off of the road, but Garmin GPS systems are revered as the best by many reviewers. So in this article, we will look at some handheld devices created specifically for this purpose to see which can be your next partner-in-crime when you leave the city for a night outdoors.

Garmin GPS systems are prevalent in the mapping, navigation and tracking industry because they can be counted on for accuracy and precision when you need to locate your place on a map, or track where someone else is. But most devices are better equipped to handle the city roads and highways, not prepared to get into what is known as uncharted territory. However, with handheld devices by Garmin, you can chart your way through trails, lakes and any other areas that don’t have street names.

In this article, we will look at two specific models of Garmin GPS systems that help people navigate their way through the dusty trails: the eTrex and Foretrex. Each one has its own unique features that can make life easier for you while outdoors. So take a look at them all to help you make a determination of which would be the best fit for you.

eTrex H

Sitting at just over $100, this device is one of the Garmin GPS systems that is an inexpensive, yet highly reliable way to navigate through the countryside. Powered by just 2 AA batteries, it comes with a high-sensitivity receiver that picks up the signal of several of the 12 Earth-orbiting satellites giving it extreme accuracy. In fact, it is so accurate that it can quickly locate your position anywhere – even in heavy cover and in deep canyons. This of course means that if you find yourself emerging from the woods into a dense building- or tree-populated city, you would have the same level of success locating your position.

Because of its small size, you can operate the device with just one hand and its five buttons. And the interface is very user-friendly so you never have to worry about getting confused by technical terminology. Also, it is bright yellow, so it is easy to locate quickly in case you’re on a boat and find you need immediate instructions on how to navigate your way back to civilization. Some other features of this device includes the ability to store up to 500 waypoints in its internal memory, and a TrackBack feature that lets you reverse your track log so that you can find your way back to your original starting point just as easily as finding your way home.

Foretrex 201

Among handheld Garmin GPS systems the Foretrex is one of the most popular because it delivers hands-free navigation assistance, is waterproof, and is a wrist mount making it lighter than many watches. This device is a perfect for anyone who requires both of their hands to be free to conduct their activities. So if you love kayaking, skiing, hang gliding, or anything else that ties of your hands, this device will become your next best friend.

Now let’s get into the many ways it can help you while you’re in the midst of your fun activities. If you’re out on the trail, you and know you have a great likelihood of coming back, you can store each one as a waypoint so that you can always find your way back to your favorite spot. In fact, you can store up to 500 of them, which gives you a lot of flexibility in where you can go with this device. And while you’re out there, you can utilize its computer with sunrise/sunset details and hunting and fishing information so that you’ll know the best time to rise and shine, where to go for your sporting events, and when to cut your time short. Some people love its timing feature that allows them to have sailing races with sound audible alarms that alert competitors of when the race is over. But whatever you use it for, most agree that you’ll be happy with the results.

Garmin GPS systems are the cream of the crop when it comes to affordable navigation devices. So why not try one out for yourself? They are reliable, accurate, and fun to use. The name Garmin GPS systems alone speaks volumes. But once you get one in your hands, you’ll know why their considered to be the best.

Why Are Garmin Auto GPS Systems So Great?

Asking why these systems are great is like asking why Michael Jordan is considered the best basketball player of all time – they just are. Garmin is different than most companies that produce their systems because they make sure that each device is extremely accurate and able to communicate with the 12 orbiting satellites effectively. But making sure this happens, you are guaranteed precise geographic location information each time you operate your device.

But this is not the only reason they are so successful with both reviewers and customers. They tend to offer a lot of great additional features including photo sharing options, a MP3 player, game downloads, and even DVD playing options for some devices. In addition, you can download tons of their free software that make mapping and navigating even more simple and enjoyable.

Of course, I cannot brag about how great these devices are without introducing you to some currently available for you to purchase. So in the next section, we will look at some of options ready for you to buy.

What Devices Can I Buy?

Garmin Nuvi 760 GPS A Thing of Beauty

Everybody knows when you hear the name Garmin that quality cannot be far behind and the Nuvi 760 is the latest in a string of great products from one of the industry leaders in the GPS system genre. Now many things set this model apart from others in the market, but let us start with the design of it. First of all the face of the device is black and I think was done as a way for you to see the screen a lot better and I must say this touch works nicely. One of the things I like about the Nuvi 760 over the 600 series is you do not have to deal with the pop-up antenna that they thought they needed. It is gone and you will notice a little longer startup time, but in my opinion that is okay, as I hated the antenna anyway. Now the startup time is not much longer between 15-30 seconds depending on where you’re at and other things that you really cannot control.

Across the top, you will find a slider, which will turn your device off and on, and a hold switch will stop you from being able to use the touch screen. In a way, this is good especially if you have kids or that annoying passenger who always wants to play with your unit. Just do not tell them what it is for so they can switch it on you. Keep this our secret and you can block them out for at least awhile. The left side you will find a headphone jack and SD card slot which is pretty much standard on most Garmin models. Along The bottom is the USB port for connections to your laptop or home based computer and the power mount connector is also housed at the bottom. If you need it on the back of the unit is a connector if you still want to put on an external antenna which I really see no need, but some people do like that as an option anyway.

Now that we know where everything is let us see what is in a Garmin GPS unit that makes it a winner. The touch screen has basically become standard on almost every unit made today and this one works well. It is bright and the text is crisp and very easy to read which something that I love about it is. One thing I was a little disappointed was no AC adapter is included which is not surprising as more companies are starting to shy away from including them in their units as well.  The navigation of this unit is very easy to use which is something that Garmin has always tried to keep pretty simple. This unit gives you all the features you would expect as far as navigation and the point of interest is very vast and to the point. They have many subcategories that they are put in which makes finding them much easier. This is a nice touch from this GPS Company as well because most people hat having to search many lists to find what they are looking for.

For the longest time one thing that Garmin GPS has not really had on their models and that is multi-destination routing. The Nuvi 760 has it and we have to applaud them for including it on this model. Many times people are going more than one place and having this feature saves them a lot of time. Integrated into the power connector is a FM Traffic antenna which seems to work well and if you need it at least you have it. Some of the standards such as text to speech are also included and being able to play Mp3 files also was something I like about it. It also comes with Bluetooth technology, which means you can answer calls through it with a compatible phone. You will have to check there website to find out which models work with it.

Overall, this is a very good model on the high-end price wise, but has some outstanding features that make it a very good buy. You get the Garmin GPS name, which is a sure sign of quality and they back there, products up. Multi-destination routing and Bluetooth technology are two very good selling points on this unit. The Garmin NUVI 760 is a model that you may want to consider if you’re looking for a top of the line model that will give you years of trouble free service.

If your computer gets stolen, their Recovery Team will work with law enforcement to get your system back. And if it is not recovered in 30 days, you will be reimbursed 90 percent of the value of your computer.

Garmin Nuvi 660 – This device makes almost every list that ranks the top 10 GPS systems. This is because it has so much to offer. For example, it offers multi-destination routing, hands-free calling, turn-by-turn navigation, preloaded 2D and 3D maps, a language translator, travel guide, huge POI database, MP3 player, FM TMC traffic receiver, and much more behind a large sunlight-readable color display. Enjoy the Benefits of Portable GPS Systems

The sky is the limit when it comes to mapping and navigation devices that can get you where you need to go accurately. But there are so many types to choose from that it’s often difficult to know where to start when considering the prospect of buying your own. Some people like in-dash systems straight from the dealership because most often they come with an entertainment center and a larger display screen, while others prefer one built in later because it has the same features, but it allows more flexibility in options. Then there are those who prefer portable GPS systems because they can be moved from car to car and can be link to other devices. In this article we will look at the latter system and its brands and models to see why its sales are on the rise.

Portable GPS Systems Offer Flexibility

If you decide to take on a portable device versus the built-in unit, there are definite benefits you can take advantage of. For example, if you own more than one vehicle, owning one of the many great portable GPS systems on the market gives you the option of switching between your cars making it possible to feel that you have more than one device. Of course, this is not possible for a unit that has been built in to your dashboard, so this is something to consider when deciding which to purchase.

In addition, these devices often allow you to download additional software meant to enhance your navigational experience. Whether you’re download mapping software, or some new product that will help your device work with another device, you can easily do this with the portable unit.

Devices for Your Car

Now that we’ve looked at the benefits of these mobile units, let’s look at one in particular that has a great reputation in the market for doing its job well. The Garmin StreetPilot c330 is highly recommended by reviewers and customers because of its detailed 2D and 3D street maps, huge directory with points of interest (POI) such as restaurants, ATMs, motels and fuel stops, and its easy to understand turn-by-turn directions.

For Your Motorcycle

While most units were created to work with cars, there are some on the market like the TomTom Rider Portable that are meant for those who ride motorcycles. This device in particular is more tough and durable than any car unit, but still puts out the same level of accuracy. In addition, it offers a 3.5” color touch screen and is “plug and play” so that you don’t have to install any software to make it work. But what’s best on this device is the anti-glare coating and visor that prevents the Sun from being a problem, and Bluetooth features.

What If I Want to Trek Outdoors?

The benefits of having a navigation device can exceed your car as many have found when using handheld devices while outdoors. Handheld devices are portable GPS systems that are a little smaller and allow you to take them with you as you trek through trails or ride on a boat. Because they are mobile devices, they can be considered portable, however, they go beyond the function of navigating in the car.

For example, the Magellan SportTrack is a great option for people who enjoy camping overnight, or for a week, with the intention of hiking, mountain biking, or even hunting. This device offers nine large navigation displays so that you can keep track of several of your hiking routes at the same time. In addition, it stores up to 500 waypoints and 2,000 track points in the device so that you can go back to look at previous routes – and it even gives pointers on where you might find hunting game or fish.

On the other hand, the Garmin Forerunner is a device that lets you track your navigational routes as you walk, jog, or run; but being a fitness unit, that’s just the beginning of its features. This unit, which is actually a wristwatch, can keep track of your time and distance while running laps, as well as your cycling speeds, heart rate, and more. And it stores all of your information each time you exercise so that you an easily store it and compare from day to day, making it one of the most useful workout portable GPS systems available.

If you’re into flexibility and mobility with your navigation experience, the portable GPS systems are definitely the way to go. And many are so affordable that you simply can’t pass them up. So look into portable GPS systems for your next major purchase. They will make sure you never get lost on a trip again.

Get Up to Par with a Golf GPS System

Getting on the green for a good game of golf with your buddies can be one of the more entertaining aspects of any weekend. But what if after years of playing your game just doesn’t seem to improve the way you have hoped it would? There are different ways to improve how you play on the green, from the tee off to accurately navigating around the course. One way you can improve is to hire a coach to get you to understand where to hit the ball so that it will avoid water and sand traps and get you closer to the hole. But if you can’t afford a full-time coach, there is another way that you can get assistance. By getting your hands on a golf GPS system, you’ll surprisingly improve your game at a price you can afford.

How One Can Help You

I bet you’re wondering why the golf GPS would be suggested as a replacement for a life coach. Well, technically I’m not suggesting that you get one as a replacement; after all, there is really no replacement for a living, breathing person standing there to answer your questions. However, the global positioning units on the market today have taken into account many of your questions and issues while on the course so that you can get the utmost assistance while playing.

Some ways that these systems have been known to help golfers includes helping them judge how far their tee is from the hole – even if it is yards away. Also, many of the devices can help you determine how and where you will need to hit the ball to avoid water and sand hazzards. They can give you information on how hard you need to hit the ball to accomplish your goal. And can even store information on previous games so that you can compare your stats and find ways to improve your game.

Which Ones Can Help Me

Now that we know how some golf GPS devices can help you improve you game, let’s look at some on the market that you can take advantage of today.

Garmin GolfLogix System – Two major companies came together to create a system that will help make your day on the course more exciting than ever. This particular device is perfect for the beginner or expert because of its ability to give you just the distances you need with simple viewing screens and no unnecessary advertising to get in your way. Some great benefits you can enjoy from this unit include being able to view the front, center and back of the green, information on where the bunkers and water hazards are located, and information on lay-ups. Also, you can take advantage of its ability to auto advance to each target on the course so that you don’t have to manually do the work when trying to manage your clubs. And it comes with a backlight screen so that you can still view your information easily, even if you play at night.

SkyGolf SkyCaddie SG2.5 System – If you are looking to advance your capabilities as a player then you will want to get your hands on the SkyGolf SkyCaddie SG2.5 Golf GPS System. It was created as a device that would be easy to carry around while golfing and would offer a number of features that would make your game better than it was before. One of these features include being able to measure the full depth and shape of the green from angle of approach whether you are on or off the fairway. But as the kids get older and their activities spread them out further away from home, it is an even smarter idea to find ways to track them down in the event that an accident occurs and they are not able to reach their phones. GPS tracking devices can come in very handy in this way. They provide a variety of options in keeping tabs on your loved ones. So if you’re ready to get even more organized while managing a million activities then read this article to learn more about these devices.

About GPS Tracking

More and more people everyday are falling in love with these devices because they provide insight into a world that you once could only imagine. When before you were just hoping your kids were taking the car where you told them to, now you can actually keep track of where they are in real time so that you never have to question their honesty again. These devices come in a variety of forms, including the portable, handheld, mini and even wristwatch. So there are now a number of ways that you can take advantage keeping a watchful eye on your loved ones.

In this article, we will focus on two of the most convenient ways to keep tabs on your children: car and cell phone GPS tracking systems. This way you can introduce yourself to the concept and then carry the information forward as you do additional research on which ones will work best for you.

T-Trac XS (For the Car)

This GPS tracking device was created specifically to help you keep a close eye on your kids when they are out and about in your car. This way, if there is some type of emergency that occurs, you can always locate their whereabouts. Some of its features include a geo-fence alert that will immediately let you know when your vehicle drives outside of a specific area on the map. Even better, to activate this fence, all you have to do is draw a square on the map.

In addition, you can set a schedule so that you can ask it to track at certain times. For instance, if your teen only uses the car after school then you can set the system to start at an evening hour. This allows you to place the device in a standby mode when it’s not necessary for operation, saving you valuable battery usage. And you can also keep track of your teen’s driving patterns by receiving speed alerts. By setting a speed limit on this unit, you will automatically be alerted if he or she exceeds this limit.

Wherifone GPS Locator Phone

This is a phone and GPS tracking device in one. It is an affordable solution for those who want to keep track of their teens and pre-teens – and even seniors – without any worry. It’s technology is extremely accurate allowing your loved ones to be tracked and located in densely-populated areas. It is slim and lightweight, able to fit anywhere on their bodies, and is durable, so that if it is dropped it won’t suffer much injury.

GPS tracking devices are a great way to keep a close eye on the people you love. Of course, some people will take a device like this as an opportunity to spy on others, but this is not its recommended purpose. Why You Should Buy GPS Systems

I’m sure you’ve heard a lot about the different navigation and tracking devices on the market that not only help people travel throughout a city without getting lost, but also can keep up with a vehicle if it gets lost (or stolen). But, believe it or not, there are even more reasons why people do and should buy GPS systems with these features, so in this article we will look as some of those reasons.

Vehicle Navigation

I think the number one reason people buy GPS systems is to help them navigate from Point A to Point B in their vehicle. Each year, new systems are released, which means each year they are becoming more accurate, reliable, and sophisticated. One of the devices that customers seem to love is from a company that expert reviewers love even more: Garmin. Their Nuvi 660 navigation device is considered top-of-the-line in its category of devices and is definitely one to think about purchasing. It offers detailed 2D and 3D maps of North America, has Bluetooth compatibility, millions of points of interests its directory, and very accurate turn-by-turn voice command speech-to text navigation instruction, making it a definite top pick among its competition.

Marine Navigation

Those who love to get out on the water can take advantage of the many units available that help them to not only find their way around the many rivers, lakes, seas, and oceans of the Earth, but also to find fish underneath those waters. In particular, the Tracker 5505 comes highly recommended as a great marine navigation unit with its high resolution screen, C-Map cartography, daylight color viewing, and fuel management options. In addition, it has a 16 MB world background map, a weather station display, high speed panning capabilities, and a Dedicated Man Overboard (MOB) hotkey.

Hiking

Some people who buy GPS systems are looking forward to spending time outdoors and need navigation assistance while trekking through non-urban areas. A great device to do this with is the Magellan SportTrack, which was created to help people who hunt, boat, fish or hike. This device is WAAS enabled and offers a quadifiler antenna that lets you pick up all 12 of the orbiting satellites in the sky. Because of this higher level of accuracy, you can trek all over the land – and on the water – with no problems. Even more, you can store up to 20 routes, 500 waypoints, and 2,000 track points that can all be downloaded to your computer and then re-stored again on your device. Some other features of this device include the ability to located Sun and Moon positions and accurate calculations of fish and game in the area.

Vehicle Tracking

Vehicle tracking is at the forefront of a lot of people’s minds, which is why many buy GPS systems devices that will help them locate their vehicle if it is ever stolen. One device that works well for this situation is the Shadow Tracker 2000. Though it is meant to keep up with an entire fleet of vehicles, many single individuals purchase it because it tons of extras you can take advantage of. For example, you are able to track each time a vehicle reaches its location – and it automatically downloads into its system so that you don’t have to do it manually. In addition, you can print out detailed maps and reports of each trip so that you can visually see actual stops, customer locations, mileage traveled and the amount of time that was spent at each location.

Teen Tracking

One of the number one problems parents have today is the safety of their children when traveling alone. But because so many families carry heavy schedules, it’s difficult to make sure you’re always with your teen. If you are concerned that in the event of an emergency you may not be able to track down your teen then you can buy GPS systems created specifically for this purpose. The T-Trac XS is a great device to purchase for teen tracking because it allows you to set up a geo-fence on the system’s virtual map that lets you determine where your teen can travel and alerts you if they go outside that area. Also, you can track your teen’s driving speed and how much time they’re spending in one location. But best of all, if your teen gets in an accident, you can immediately direct law enforcement to the car.

As you can see, why people buy GPS systems can vary, but it’s good to know there are devices to accommodate a variety of needs. So what are you waiting for? The next list of reasons you should buy GPS systems? Get out there and purchase one today!
